Addressing food insecurity by providing healthy meals and snacks.
Character Development
Promoting positive values and principles in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
Social Skills Development
Fostering positive relationships and communication through group activities, games and mentorships.
Leadership Training
Equipping students with decision-making and leadership skills for future success.
Spiritual Development
Teaching that will prepare students to enter high school as Christ followers.
Since our inception, Bear PAWS has grown from serving 12 students to enrolling over 70, with an average weekly attendance of 67 students.
The Bear Paws program was born during the COVID pandemic when staff and members of Westminster Presbyterian Church began observing students lingering on church property while waiting for transportation. The program began February 22, 2022 with twelve students in attendance. Recognizing the need to support Austin middle school students facing various challenges, we have created a safe, welcoming space with age appropriate programs and activities, caring volunteers, a true environment where middle school students can thrive!
Together, we're building a stronger community, one young life at a time. Join us in making a difference – whether as a student, volunteer, or supporter – and be part of the Bear PAWS family!
Amarillo Bear PAWS is always looking for volunteers to help with our events and activities. If you're interested in helping out, please contact us or join our mailing list to stay updated on opportunities.
